Kaleidoscopes: More Than Fun

In so few instances has history produced a single item that has brought such brilliance to an era as the kaleidoscope
did 180 years ago. Yet this simple optical device, often described as merely a method of viewing reflections of an object, has impacted daily life far more than as an early toy. The kaleidoscope reveals many of the basic principles of optics, and for this reason is also a great educational tool.
