Now in its 38th year, OPN’s annual feature reviews some of the most interesting research in optics and photonics published in recent months. Our panel of guest editors reviewed 115 summaries submitted by research teams from across the globe, to select 30 intriguing stories that reflect the broad sweep of optical and photonic science and engineering.

OPN thanks all who submitted summaries, as well as our panel of guest editors: John Zavada, the panel chair, and guest editors: Felipe Beltrán-Mejía, Svetlana Boriskina, Rocío Borrego-Varillas, Brooke Hester, Jennifer Kruschwitz, Anne Matsuura, Giovanni Milione, Jelena Pesic, Arlene Smith and Joel Villatoro.
