1986 Annual Meeting / OSA

“More than twenty-two hundred people found Seattle through the fog to set record attendance for an OSA Annual Meeting. The Coordinated Conferences on Optical and Laser Science and Technology included the Optical Society of America’s Annual Meeting, the International Laser Science Conference (cosponsored by the American Physical Society), the first Topical Meeting on Multiple Excitations of Atoms, and the Workshop on Optical Fabrication and Testing. They attracted a record annual meeting attendance of 2,052. The Seattle Center, created for the 1962 world’s fair, was the site for the conferences. It was also the site, on two separate nights, for a Van Halen concert, which added ambience and color beyond the red and blue of the technical-session and exhibitor badges. ”
