Optica Ambassadors: Cultivating the Future of Optics

This year marks the tenth class of Optica Ambassadors—emerging leaders dedicated to advancing the global optics and photonics community.

The Optica Ambassador program aims to support student and early-career members and develop new Optica volunteers through a wide variety of activities and relationships with student chapters.

Optica, then known as the Optical Society of America, was founded in Rochester, NY, USA, in 1916. As the society’s 100th anniversary approached in 2016, a Centennial Advisory Panel (CAP) was formed to recognize this significant milestone by planning celebrations and new offerings to benefit the optics and photonics community. One of these was the Optica Ambassador Program.
