Mapping Brain Activity

In OPN’s December “Optics in 2016” review of interesting research, Nicolas Pégard and colleagues described their recent work in compressive light-field microscopy, which, by building up a “dictionary” of the light-field signature of individual neurons, allows the construction of real-time, 3-D images of neural activity in the brain.
