The book deals with the latest trends in photonic and photonic material applications. The book is written clearly by experts in the field and is illustrated with many color figures and tables. Each chapter contains a list of references for further reading.

Photonic crystals and their applications are the subject of the first three chapters. Plasmonics is developed in chapter four, and solar cells are reported in chapter five. The next three chapters are dedicated to nanophotonics, and the two chapters that follow are dedicated to Bragg fibers. The last two chapters deal with silicon photonics and smart materials.

The book is recommended to all who are working in the area of photonics and optical materials.
