In OPN’s December “Optics in 2023” review of interesting research, researchers from Institute of Optics, Spanish National Research Council, and 2EyesVision SL, Spain, described a method they recently developed to measure spherical refractive error (myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism) more efficiently and repeatably than in converntional eye exams, by using a flickering two-color stimulus rather than a traditional eye chart. This video shows a computer simulation of the perceptual effects produced by the flickering signal used in the method.
