In September, the 10th Iberoamerican Optics Meeting/XIII Latin American Meeting on Optics, Lasers and Applications (RIAO OPTILAS) was held in Mexico. In support of the meeting, OSA sponsored a panel on the participation of women in the field of optics, as well as a student prize. OSA President Ursula Gibson, together with RIAO OPTILAS General Chair Josué Álvarez-Borrego, presented the prize to OSA student member Rafael G. González-Acuña, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico (pictured).
