Display Research at Taiwan’s National Chiao Tung University

The Display Institute at National Chiao Tung University is helping Taiwan to remain a world leader in display science and technology.

 

figureOne of the buildings at the Display Institute. It was donated to NCTU by Chuanghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd. in December 2006 as a base for collaboration between industry and academia. Its nickname is the RGB building in honor of the primary colors of electronics displays.

Over the past two decades, Taiwan has emerged as a major player in the development and manufacture of display technology. By early this century, Taiwan had captured 30 percent of the market share of liquid crystal displays (LCDs), with a compounded annual growth rate of more than 40 percent.
