Nanoscopy and Nanospectroscopy

The seven chapters published here reflect an enormous amount of activity in the fields of optical microscopy and Raman microscopy at the nanoscale. As a final send-off for this book, the authors identify a few directions in which physicists, materials scientists and engineers can provide a greater understanding of the foundations of nanospectroscopy.

The volume under review is well written and is a substantial addition to the literature. It fashions a suitable foundation for a deep area of research under active development. The target audience for this text is clearly graduate students in materials characterization at the nanoscale using optical techniques, but anyone concerned with near-field measurements will profit from reading this book.
