Defects in Nanocrystals

Overall, a defect in a solid is any deviation from periodicity in the solid. Imperfections and defects in crystals can be found in a variety of forms, including chemical impurities, surface boundaries, dislocations, twins and stacking faults. The study of defects in solids has led to recognition that defects can be very important as crystal size is decreased.

This lecture-based book contains careful discussions on many topics dealing with the multifaceted aspects of growth and properties of semiconductor nanomaterials from a purely physicochemical viewpoint. The target audience for Pizzini’s book includes undergraduate students of physics and materials chemistry as well as semiconductor engineers.
