Semiconductor Nanolasers

For many years, photonics has sought to emulate the enormous success of electronics in miniaturizing devices—specifically with the aim of creating photonic integrated circuits. Nanolasers  are strong potential candidates for the role of optical source in photonic integrated circuits. This excellent book provides the first in-depth description of the challenges faced in creating such lasers.

The basic principles of nanolaser operations are enunciated clearly. Critical assessments are made of efforts directed at implementing a variety of nanolasers, and a detailed discussion covers the design process for future generations of nanolasers. Additionally, excellent figures and diagarams bring the subject matter to life. The authors are to be congratulated for taking time out of their research activities to provide this valuable and stimulating resource for the benefit of the wider community. It is anticipated that this book will help accelerate the creation of photonic integrated circuits and sensors based on nanolasers.
