This month, the 2022 Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) Conference and Exhibition—co-sponsored by Optica (formerly OSA), the IEEE Communications Society and the IEEE Photonics Society—will take place as a hybrid event, in person in San Diego, CA, USA, and on-screen for virtual attendees. One of the event’s plenary speakers will be Elise Neel, senior vice president of New Business Incubation at Verizon, USA, whose team includes industry experts in such areas as location technology, aerial and terrestrial robotics and the industrial Internet of Things (IoT). OPN caught up with Neel before the conference to learn more about her OFC talk, “5G and the Promise of Industry 4.0.”
