In OPN’s December “Optics in 2022” review of interesting research, researchers from Colgate Palmolive, USA, and the University of Washington, USA, showcased recent efforts to engineer a compact probe for intraoral multimodal imaging, combining optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCT-A) with light-induced autofluorescence (LIAF). The team expects the system to be suitable for routine intraoral clinical imaging applications, providing a high-resolution, multimodal view. This video shows 3D OCT/OCT-A imaging of human gingiva obtained using the instrument.
