At each annual Optical Fiber Communication/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC), attendees and exhibitors buzz about finding new solutions for addressing the ever-increasing global bandwidth demand. This year, Alcatel-Lucent’s Philippe Keryer will address this topic in his keynote presentation titled “Beyond Today’s Broadband Networks.” Keryer is a long-time veteran of the telecom industry and a senior executive of Alcatel-Lucent with experience in mobile access, GSM/WiMAX, mobile radio and now carrier products. He will describe Alcatel-Lucent’s vision for how current broadband networks must evolve to become a full IP multiservice network—what Alcatel-Lucent calls its “High Leverage Network.” He will also focus on the critical role that optical transport innovations, technologies and solutions will play in this transformation.
