Researchers at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) have installed two flexible solar cell panels on the curved roof of a campus bus shelter. According to Adrian Kitai, an engineering physics professor who supervised graduate student Wei Zhang on the project, the team cut a brittle solar photovoltaic panel into 720 1-cm2 chips and mounted them onto a polymer backing.
