3D diffractive Fresnel lens

This image is a 1000X zoom into the top lens of a 3D printed doublet diffractive Fresnel lens on the tip of an optical fibre. Stack of Z-focused images are taken by Keyence VHX 6000 vertical microscope at 55degree to the imaging plane, and overlapped using the Keyence built-in software to create a single image with a homogeneous focus. The Z-zooming is intentionally stopped at the mid-length of the structure to create a water colour effect. Some noise reduction is also performed.
The fabrication and design is a collaborative work between Dr Asa Asadollahbaik, Mr Simon Thiele and Ms Ksenia Weber. The image is taken at Optics Lab in 4th Physics Institute (Head of the Institute: Professor Harald Giessen), University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart.
