Painting the Rainbow
Bright structural colors emerge from nanoscale metal-dielectric-metal (MDM) Fabry-Pérot cavities fabricated by sputtering. Variations in the cavity thickness tune the optical interference conditions, painting the surface with a rainbow of structural colors.
