Quantum Physics of Semiconductor Materials and Devices

This textbook presents some of the most exciting developments of the past 50 years within semiconductor electronics and photonics. The whole book is written in a very accessible style, with a clear exposition of all main theoretical concepts and plenty of good exercises for self study. It will be a good resource for undergraduate and graduate students entering the field.

Jena's exposition and choice of topics are well crafted to bring the uninitiated up to speed on a subject that has a long scientific and historical background. This book should certainly be on the shelf of every physicist with an interest in connection with condensed matter physics and materials science. I recommend it highly.
