The proceedings of the four symposia of the Students and Researchers Exchange Program in Sciences (STEPS)—a joint Japanese–Russian initiative—have been compiled into three books. This, the third and last volume of the series, covers frontiers and new directions in photonic science.
In the book, the researchers who presented at the fourth symposium have contributed review-style chapters. Each chapter begins with an introductory part, in which a clear and concise overview of the topic and its significance are given, along with a description of the authors’ most recent research results.
The topics covered are grouped into six categories: light propagation and plasma physics (chapters 1 and 2); molecules interacting with intense laser fields (chapter 3); photochemistry and novel materials (chapters 4 and 5); photobiology (chapter 6); photons and applications (chapter 7); and optical responses of solid and nanostructures (chapters 8 to 10). This volume provides up-to-date progress in photon science for researchers and students.
