OSA member Romain Quidant, a researcher at ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Barcelona, was awarded the Fresnel (Applied) prize for his achievements in applied photonics. This prize is awarded to those under age 35 who have made significant contributions to quantum electronics and optics. Quidant has become a world reference in manipulating microscopic objects with light, with applications ranging from plasmonic oncology to doping detection.
