Our Changing Views of Photons

This book is a personal account of some of the quantum optics research in which the author has been involved. It should not be regarded as a conventional textbook on quantum optics and quantum theory—the exposition here aims to be conversational and untechnical, understandable by anyone with an interest in science, with few equations intruding into the narrative. The target audience for this text includes scientists who are not specialists in quantum optics or photonics; those interested in science education, public outreach and knowledge exchange; young people (or others) with an interest in physics; and philosophers of science.
