Adolf W. Lohmann was born on 20 April 1926 in Salzwedel, Germany. After World War II, he studied physics at the University of Hamburg, finishing his diploma thesis in 1951 and his doctorate in 1953 under his advisor Rudolf Fleischmann, a renowned expert in various fields of physics.
