Adaptive wavefront shaping with liquid crystals; ecology and applications of flow-stimulated bioluminescence; hyperspectral imaging for safety and security

“Adaptive optics is primarily associated with large, expensive telescope systems, whereas liquid crystals are generally used in small, low-cost displays that many of us carry around on our wrists. Within the last few years, however, researchers have shown that liquid crystals can be used as wavefront controllers for adaptive optics. The results are leading adaptive optics into a broader range of applications, and further demonstrate the versatility of liquid crystals.”
