The Ins and Outs of Technical Proposals

Most early-career professionals will at some point have to propose their technical ideas to get “buy in” from someone else. This proposal, often in the form of a written or oral presentation, is usually a request for critical resources to pursue an idea, such as money, equipment, time or help from other people. The proposal may be to your internal management, to an external customer or to a funding agency—such as for a research grant from the US National Science Foundation.
