“The study of machine vision requires knowledge from many disciplines … The marriage of all these technologies into one has made it feasible to emulate the human visual sense with mechanical hardware. It is not possible to replace human vision with machine vision across the board, yet in well-defined applications the machine can be programmed to function better than the human. Computers work well at repetitive tasks, while people get bored.”
