Nanometer-Scale Tracking of Brownian Motion

In OPN’s December “Optics in 2015” review of interesting research conducted in the previous year, N. Verrier and C. Fournier describe their use of digital holographic microscopy to track particles at nanometer resolution. This video shows the Brownian motion of a one-micron polystyrene colloidal particle as extracted from an interferometric stack of images—that is, a digital hologram.
