Each year, OSA jointly sponsors two U.S. Congressional Fellows—one in conjunction with the Materials Research Society (MRS) and the other with the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). Ashley White, a recent graduate of the University of Cambridge, is the 2010-2011 OSA/MRS Congressional Fellow; she works in the office of Sen. Al Franken (D.-Minn.). Marcius Extavour, most recently of Ontario Power Generation, Inc., is this year's Arthur H. Guenther Congressional Fellow (OSA/SPIE). Marcius serves on the staff of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, chaired by Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.).
